Article II - Membership
Current:
(1.11) Undergraduate
When seeking membership as an undergraduate student, a candidate must:
(1.113)
… have an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher, on a 4.00 scale for all coursework completed.
Proposed:
(1.11) Undergraduate
When seeking membership as an undergraduate student, a candidate must:
(1.113)
… have an overall GPA of 3.50 [3.25] or higher, on a 4.00 scale for all coursework completed.
Rationale/Notes:
Article VI, Section 1.22 of the Society's Bylaws permits chapters to invite undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of a 4.00 scale to join. Lowering the GPA will likely facilitate a higher number of initiates who are willing adhere to our principles. As of Spring 2010, an additional 45 teacher candidates would be eligible for membership if the proposed change was immediately implemented.
